There are a lot of these Florida bungalow homes turned into cute restaurants. And this is one of those! Been here several times and it never disappointed. Tonight ordered the shrimps, sausage, grits from the menu. It comes with a salad, but I upgraded to the Cesar. The first thing to come out was a complementary espresso cup of the soup special--wild mushroom. It tasted as if someone went outside, pulled out some wild shrooms, threw them in a blender with a little cream, oil, salt and pepper and let 'er rip. It was OUTSTANDING. The taste was earthy, and a little creamy. It's the best I've had in awhile. The cesar arrived next. Very tangy. Hint of anchovy (that I love). And the usual Cesar tastes. Now the punchline: the waiter said there were no Anchovies in it! Really? Wow! No little salty fishes, but getting the taste of the little guys...great! But, what was up with the little tomato slices on this salad? Didn't affect the taste, just looked uncesary. The main dish is next. Another great dish. The six grilled shrimp were nestled in the creamy grits with several slices of andouille along with some rolled spinach. The taste was true southern delight. The shrimp and sweet-tangy andouille worked perfectly with the creamy grits. I lapped it up! Got to have desert! Went with the blackberry-blueberry cobbler. Nice mix of sweet fruit and crunchy granola. It was topped with 'Nilla ice cream. Licked it dry. This place is one of several bungalow restaurants in cutesie Safety Harbor. All are good and different. On this night this place hit it out of the park. whack!

Just moved to Tampa and wanted to celebrate my B-day at a local, one of a kind restaurant that isn't too pricey. Found this perfect place! We had dinner next to the fireplace on a weeknight; quaint, cozy, not crowded. Love the cottage, decor, and acoustic guitar music (live during lunchtime & weekends)! We ordered the Pesto-seared Key West shrimp and scallop risotto and coffee-rubbed Hanger steak with buttermilk smashed red potatoes. Oh my delicious! - The risotto is the best I've ever tasted! It was cooked perfect. The pesto with fresh basil slivers kept getting more flavorful with each bite. It could've been eaten alone; the seafood made it even better! The steak was cooked a perfect medium and so tender. But a little too much coffee rub, which made the outside taste burned. The buttermilk smashed potatoes is like dessert! And I avoid mashed potatoes. The service is great! We were given complimentary black bean and tomato bisque sample to try. So good! Topped off the celebration with a multi-layered chocolate cake. Moist and yummy; should've added a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A 4 star because they gave us a complimentary candle; not the dessert. (Yes, I expect a gift on my B-day.) This is definitely the place to take visiting relatives and friends. The price is reasonable for very high quality food. I will be back for lunches and more!

Cute place to meet ladies for lunch. I had the Greek flaming cheese and black bean soup and it was delicious. I also tasted the spinach enchilada and wished I had ordered that too!!! It was sooooo good!!! I would definitely go back. The service was pleasant also.

In tiny Safety Harbor is a great restaurant named Green Springs Bistro. This is where my like for grits became my LOVE for grits. Their Sausage, shrimp and grits is so yummy that it launched me into a grits cooking frenzy for a couple of weeks. Aside from the grits, I've also had the Gumbo (loaded with chicken and sausage), Blue crab stuffed portobello, Saganaki (Greek cheese), Roasted duck breast (the accompanied roasted veggies are to die for, I totally could be come a vegetarian if I can eat this all day) and, of course, the Green Springs sangria (must order min half pitcher). EVERYTHING were delicious!!! While dining you get to enjoy delightful live music by their house musician, Michael Rusch, who started playing when Green Springs first opened in 2000 and has not missed a day since. The honest truth is that I used to not think much of Safety Harbor, but my view has changed since my discovery of Green Springs Bistro.

everybody raves about this place! that's great, but ... this just happened: me: (walked in) "hi, we were just looking at the menu and can i order a lunch salad for dinner?" owner: "NO!" me: "well i'm a vegetarian and ..." owner: (interrupts me) "do you have a reservation?" me: "no. we're just in town for a ..." owner: (interrupts me) "well we can't seat you for an hour!" (TABLES ARE NOT FULL AT THIS POINT) me: "okay thanks!" I AM IN TOWN OFTEN AND WILL *NEVER* RECOMMEND THIS PLACE OR NEVER TRY AGAIN. not a nice way to treat out of town'ers! just not cool.

Visit time/day: Lunch on a weekday Atmosphere: Cute Florida style house, casual but artsy vibe. We were seated on the enclosed back patio and it was VERY LOUD! There were only a few tables with talking people - it was a combination of an overly loud musician in the next room and no sound dampening items in the room (tile floor, glass windows, walls) - it was impossible to have a conversation - think 10x louder than a Macaroni Grill. Please put down some rugs or fabric on the ceiling to dampen the sound. I ordered the Roasted Chicken Breast sandwich. I received a small 1/2 sandwich that was very bland and uninspired (think something you make while you are dieting) - unseasoned chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo on an artisan style bread. The bread was the highlight and it seemed like something you get at a grocery store bakery obviously not made on the premises. The side 'salad' was a 1/3 cup of bland black eye pea with a little bit of chopped onions and green pepper. I reluctantly ate it because I was still very hungry after receiving such a small sandwich. My BF ordered the Bison Burger which came with the same black eye pea 'salad' and a very small green side salad with the most boring dressing ever made at a restaurant (oil and balsamic vinegar, mostly oil). The Bison Burger was prepared well (it was still moist) but again the size was very small (1/2 sandwich). We were both very disappointed and still hungry when we left. Everyone raves about this place (and the Yelp reviews almost seem a bit 'fake' because they are very general and just say 'SO GREAT!') so maybe we just ordered the wrong things? Or have a bigger appetite than most?

Awesome locally owned restaurant. Bison burger is just delish!! Get the gorgonzola to go with it...yummmm Also Black/Blueberry cobbler and chocolate cake to finish up, you just can't go wrong with anything on this menu. P.S. Just read Miranda's post about the back room being too loud and the musician being loud? I will say the back room can be a bit loud if loud people are in there (some rugs could help) however, the musician is FAR from loud? I think she is being unreasonable here. I've been to this place dozens of times for lunch and dinner and it never (ever) was louder than the Macaroni Grill??!!?

Hubby loved the gumbo. I got the spinach and Vermont cheddar enchilada which was really good but I don't think I'd get it again. I rarely splurge when it comes to diet so when I do it's got to really WOW me. I 'd like to go back and try their shrimp and grits.

1st impression... Damn! The menu is eclectic Southern (really, I'm serious). Grits, fresh catch fish, gumbo... I had a chance to sample all & it's all pretty darn good! I think the menu is one dish shy of the right amount of items, but in this case I applaud the chef for focus over variety!

3.5 Stars Old house converted into a restaurant with a great Key West style vibe. Rooms are painted bright colors and there is cool and funky art on the wall. We ate in the 'sun room', which once was probably the back porch, now converted into a dining space. Great room, nice and bright, looking into the back yard. Free glass of sangria with Yelp check in; I chose the white, and it was okay, but still too much like white wine and not sweet/fruity enough. For my meal I went with the crab cake sandwich served with side salad. Crab cakes were tasty, although I wish the roll it had been served on was not as hard, and was a bit wider so it would actually hold the crab cakes and lettuce without it all falling everywhere. I never use mayo, but I had to add it, because the sandwich still needed a little something else. Side salad was fine, but obviously bagged lettuce, plus some tomato and red onion slices. There is live entertainment piped throughout the dining rooms and into the front yard. You find out due to a notice left on every table that this is the guy's only job and he relys on tips. Not my style music: think Kenny Loggins singing Jimmy Buffet style songs, only you don't recognize any of the songs because he only performs original music. I think this would be a great place to bring friends from out of town to give them a cool Florida feeling in a beautiful space with decent food.

I'm out of step with the other reviews with good reason. As a stand alone place to eat the place is fine, but, so many choices in Pinellas that are far better -. more quaint and on the water. Atmosphere 75 Just not my taste Service 75 Nothing to write home about Food 70 Tasteless Mai Mai Value 70 Competitive prices, but.... Hey, the management has tried very hard to be different and maybe that is the problem. If you want to reward a good effort this is the place to go. Otherwise, ski[p it

Love this quaint restaurant! First time I had the mushroom and goat cheese ravioli which was very good. Had the hanger steak recently and it was very good. Slightly on the rare side for a medium rare but it was delicious. I wish they changed their menu out more often even if it was just twice/year. It's a small menu as is so would love to see some different options to try for our next visit.

I want to start off by saying the name is a little deceiving. I thought "green" meant organic etc. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and asked if the chicken was free range. To my surprise, it wasn't. I went ahead and got the salad, only taking one bite of the chicken. The salad was a great size and flavor. I also had good service. I probably won't be back, due to the lack of organic/free range/grass fed.

One of my favorite local restaurants in Safety Harbor. I love to bring guests from out of town here for a taste of real Florida cooking. Local owners have been here their whole lives.

We've been about five-six times and have never had a disappointing experience. The menu changes but there is usually something really good. A few recurring mainstays I like are the greek cheese appetizer--set on fire at your table and excellent with the bread, the fish spread and the eggplant spread are also great. Service is warm and friendly--they do remember us each time we are there. They usually have a guy playing a guitar, spanish stuff mostly, that adds just the right tone to the atmosphere. They have been great with our baby too, and they have a family changing room if you need it.

This is a unique place with a fun ambiance, but it is very loud. This is more of a girl's night out rather than date night. The decor is very unique and I loved the 'This Old House' feel to it. The food was delicious too. There were many unique flavors. Although I felt that it was highly over priced for the portions from their appetizer and entree menu. Now the dessert menu is a different story. They have a a killer chocolate cake that is $7/piece and it's well worth the $7 bucks - it's huge! They have pretty good sangria as well, although they are guilty of over charging if going on Sangria Night when it's BOGO....don't order a pitcher because that deal is only by the glass. Ask me, I found out the 'hard way.' I'll definitely be back though, I think I'll just be more selective in ordering.

For a nice casual Friday night head to Safety Harbor & enjoy a delicious dinner with light entertainment. Panio guy in the main dining room, not too loud - perfect background for relaxed dining. The bison burger is the best in the area. Served topped with gorgonzola and bacon if you wish. You won't feel too guilty though with a salad on the side which comes standard.

Awesome gumbo for lunch today with raspberry ice tea. Your grandfather had a great gumbo recipe. Thank you! #gumbo The music was delightful playful fun and not too loud. Best lunch in Safety Harbor.

Fun little restaurant and wine bar. Delicious "big salad" with seared mahi, portabellos and black eye peas. Mahi sandwich was good. Great service inside and on the charming patio. Guitar background music(live)

This is a Safety Harbor gem. The restaurant is located in a converted home just off of Main Street. The menu is constantly changing, ensuring you have the most seasonal, fresh items. I had the bison burger. It was a little pricey for the burger itself, but oh my, it was delicious and full of flavor. I also split a pitcher of sangria with my mother. Another win!

Not impressed. Really? A few pieces of supermarket lettuce, two slices of tree-tomato, followed by a few pieces of ravioli in tasteless cream? Turning the lights out by 9.30 is all very well if there are no customers, but not if it means taking plates away while you are still chewing, saying "sorry no cappuccino!" and turning the lights before you've walked down the stairs. (Those were new shoes - dangerous!) Our sixsome had to complete our conversation on the sidewalk. Keys in the door and lights out at 9.25 p.m. on a Saturday night? Don't bother.

A night of celebration for a friend birthday. The restaurant did take the reservation and make sure the surprise party is engaged correctly. They did a good job on reservation and the instruction that was given. Tonight is also the third Friday night that Safety Harbor is a music street night that bring a lot of traffic to the restaurant. When I walk in the restaurant they also have live guitar music. The ambient is very nice. This restaurant is almost many chambers. Each room has three to four tables. Sometimes you feel like private dining when our party is the only table in that room. The food is great there. Our started are the saganaki - Greek Kefalograviera Cheese. The cheese is well roasted. Harold's Shrooms- Portobello mushrooms cap with red pepper, fresh basil and olive in cheese. It has a mixture of garlic in it and makes it pleasant. My entrée is the Bison Chop Steak with grill onion. It sees with mush potatoes and roast veges. I will prefer this dish not chop or ground bison meat. I will prefer it to be cube pieces that make this dish desirable. Overall the services are great. The owner is very welcoming. Like the set up of the restaurant.

GSB is quite nice. The service was friendly, they offer a nice atmosphere, felt like being in a beach house. Food wasn't bad. They also have a live guitarist that'll play happy birthday upon request. All in all the experience was good. So why the three star rating? Well despite the decent meal, it just didn't match the price tag. It wasn't unforgettable, it was just decent. The $26 duck roast had high expectations, which was met half way. I did enjoy the Bison chop steak, still a similar deal to the duck. Its lean ground beef with a pretty good wine sauce, the potatoes and carrots that came with it were excellent, but again, the Bison being the star of the show for me, was nothing over the top. The Shrooms and Saganaki were delish, but a bit small for the price, especially the Saganaki. Anyway, GSB is worth checking out once or twice. Either increase the quality of the food or decrease the price tag, and Ill bump up the rating. keep in mind there is an automatic gratuity added to the check. FYI.

Green Springs Bistro was a perfect place to celebrate my hubby's birthday. We both love this atmosphere since it is an artistic, tropical themed bungalow just like what you would see in Key West. We had a party of five, and we sat in one of the front rooms. I asked for an area that would not be too loud. I hate when you are going out to eat, & you can't hear your company. They had music playing which was perfect, and set the fun friday birthday mood. Our table tried the saganaki, the shrooms, and the artichoke dip for appetizers. They were all good. For my entree I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish with crab and lobster. I enjoyed it, but my carrots and other veggies were what I loved the most. My hubby ordered the coffee rub steak. We have never tried that before, and the flavors were bursting. Two others ordered the bison, and one other ordered the roasted duck and seemed to enjoy it. With our entrees came a great salad and an ok black bean tomato bisque soup. We had a berry cobbler and triple fudge chocolate cake for dessert while the musician sang happy birthday to my hubby and Melony. Lights were off for them to blow the candles out. That was perfect. Our server took great care of us, and our experience felt like we were treated like gold. Green Springs Bistro is perfect for a special occasion place, or date place. I like how there are three seating areas, plus the bar area to sit. I think smaller rooms make it less loud than one big room. They have two outside tables too if you would rather sit outside, and or bring your pet.

Green Springs is located in a cute, artistic house in Safety Harbor. It's been around for at least 10 years and I finally got a chance to try it! We tried the fish spread, bison burger and stuffed Portobello mushroom for lunch. The fish spread was really good with the addition of some hot sauce. The homemade crackers reminded me of melba toast, very crispy. The bison burger was moist and flavorful even though it was well done. The Portobello mushroom had goat cheese, roasted red peppers and olives. It was tasty and filling and came with a side salad.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary today (late!) and came over to Safety Harbor for the day/night. Upon entering Green Springs we were very happy to hear live music! We immediately ordered a pitcher of white sangria and I was a bit disappointed. It was...missing something...although it was wonderful to taste that hint of cinnamon! For lunch we ordered the bison burger with cheddar and bacon, rare, and the blue crab stuffed portobello mushroom! Both were excellent and both came with sides of a small house salad on the plate and a side serving of garbanzo bean salad that was perfectly seasoned!! Yes, we indulged in, I think it was a 6 or 8 layer chocolate cake with thick chocolate frosting that came with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and MADE MY DAY!!! I asked about it and they said they make it in-house - WOWZA!!! Overall, service was attentive with multiple servers stopping to keep us happy - I would be pleased to return and try the dinner menu sometime!!!

I think I just paid $25 for frozen Costco fish, even if I didn't I am still miserably disappointed. Upside, craft beers were good. I'd try somewhere else, if you have tried everywhere else in safety harbor then why not:)

Wonderful! Three cheers for the black and blue dessert. Music by Michael Rusch was heavenly. Our server Michelle was delightful. Loved the decor and the back porch. The food was great. Don't miss the black and blue. Yummy!

I love the atmosphere here. Definitely go when they have live music, which I believe is on Fri/Sat. The little bar they have is adorable if you're looking for a cocktail or two and a cute date spot. Food is great. I've ordered the shrimp and grits a couple times and it's always amazing. Not an every-week kinda of a restaurant, but I enjoy going there. Great place if you're looking for an intimate date night place.

What an incredible find! This house is tucked away and quaint. Upon entering, you realize you've found gold! We had a pecan crusted grouper with a lemon butter sauce that was excellent. The sides were delicious, and the blackberry/blueberry cobbler is the best dessert I've had in months. As if all of this isn't enough, we were lucky enough to be there on a night when Michael Rauch was performing. He was singing and playing a guitar to one 70's hit after another. I could have sat and listened all night. Just a great dining experience!!

Tucked away in Safety Harbor this bright colored (interior) establishment is built around a small home serving up delicious fusion dishes. Green Springs Bistro is a lovely romantic date night or girls night out spot. Take one peek at their menu, and you will get a sense of whimsy about the food they serve. Items like "Saganaki " melted greek cheese served sizzling at the table. Warm Artichoke Spread served with crackers that can't be put down. They serve delicious favorites as well - the Sausage, shrimp and grits are to die for here. Take a spoon-full of this steamy concoction and you will not stop until the last bit. Grandpa Pracka's Gumbo is nothing antiquated and is short of magical. The Bison burger is a low fat high protein is perfect for guiltless carnivores. The staff are friendly and even call you immediately if you accidentally forget our CC like what I had done during my frist visit. They will also take care and going over the menu with you and always are around when you need but disappear when you don't want them hovering over you. Green Springs is one of my favorite must return eatery.

I've been tyring to get to Green Springs Bistro for a while now, and finally had a chance to go there with a couple of my dance girls after class. On a Thursday evening, we were happy that we were sat immediately, no reservation required. The tables and walls are covered with art. Our table had "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" lyrics painted on it. Clearly this place is very cheery. As we perused the menu (and it's kinda pricy) the waitress/hostess brought around samples of the Mushroom bisque for us all to try, compliments of the chef. I thought that was nice. We placed our orders, each of us opting to do a tapas style meal, Crab Cakes, Flat Bread or in my case the Mushroom caps with goat cheese. The food was good, but I will admit, it was priced too high. 2 portabella mushroom caps with goat cheese, red peppers and a bit of olive were $10.00. I can see that for 4 of them, but not 2. The flavours though, combined delightfully though.

Decided to break out of my normal comfort zone of downtown Dunedin, and go across Pinellas County and checkout downtown Safety Harbor. Our server was the nicest, and most energetic server I've had in a while. Our meal came with a mixed green salad that included a honey, poppyseed vinaigrette, which was good, but I could have used a bit more on the salad. I got the Pesto-seared Shrimp and Scallop Risotto, and it was great. The scallops were cooked PERFECTLY. They were amazing, the only downside was that the risotto lacked in seasoning. After I added some table salt the taste improved ten-fold. The price is on the high side of $$.

Fantastic Florida Feel, Fine dining restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere in this converted Florida Keys style house restaurant truly a gem with very appealing decor. Green Springs is a main stay of the Safety Harbor restaurant scene and is my favorite of them all. Chef Paul cooks up delicious food all presented to perfection and served excellently by the friendly and attentive staff. The Hanger Steak and The Crusted Mahi are truly devine. Make sure you leave room for the 7 layer dark chocolate fudge cake. My word it's good.

Pretty good. I came here bc gregario pizza was closed. But this place is decent. Maybe 3.5 stars. Crab cakes are not lump and the cobbler tasted previously frozen I think. My main complaint is that It's soooo loud here in these bungalow houses. Why don't they chase curtains or something to absorb the noise? It's really out of control. I almost can't enjoy my food when people are screaming and laughing in the room next to me.

My sis and I were in the area painting pottery and decided to have lunch at this cute restaurant just off the main road. We love the artistic bungalow homes turned restaurants and this one did not disappoint. First of all, the children's menu choices are healthy; the chicken was tasty and my niece finished it all. The service was spot on and staff very pleasant. Sis and I shared the fish spread and crab cake sandwich which was enough for two and delicious. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Quaint little eatery with artsy vibe & great food! My favorite is the Mahi sandwich, but everything we've tried on numerous visits has been excellent. They bring a sample of delicious soup in a pretty little cup while your order is being cooked, unique idea. Only drawback is the noise ~ guests have to yell over the loud music to converse, making it difficult to carry on a date-night conversation

Yum-city! Came here with a friend who lives in Safety Harbor on a Saturday night during Safety Harbor's Wine Fest. We were quickly seated and decided to start with an appetizer since our wine had kicked in. We started with the artichoke dip. Before it arrived, we were brought an amuse bouche from the chef: tomato black bean soup. A lovely touch. The artichoke dip arrived and was fine. I would probably select another appetizer on my next trip but it got took the edge off. My friend and I decided to share the pecan crusted chicken for our entrée. They split it for us in the kitchen and split salads for us. I will note that a fly was lingering around my salad and eventually got sucked in to the dressing. Yuck. The server took care of it quickly and promised dessert at the end of the evening which was just fine with me. That kind of thing happens (as the server explained they get all their greens from an organic farm) and its really how a place responds to it that makes all the difference to me. Fly incident aside, we were ready for our entrée and it was a total winner. The Pecan crusted chicken was Ah-may-zing. Stuffed with gorganzola and bacon. Can't go wrong with that. Our entrée came (split) with a portion of mashed potatoes (yum!) and a vegetable medley (loved the carrots!). It is a rich dish so splitting it was perfect. It left us room for the chocolate cake that my friend told me we must try. Ok. Twist my arm. We ordered two pieces of chocolate cake: one for us and one for my friend to take home to her boyfriend (securing her place as the best girlfriend ever). The cake was too delicious for words. Trust me, I'm a professional. This is some damn good chocolate cake. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Green Springs and I look forward to going back to try more things on the menu (and get another piece of chocolate cake!).

Went back to this restaurant. All I can say is the owner is the rudest person. I ordered the portobello mushroom stuffed with crab. The mushroom was mush. They marinate it the night before (week before) it was soggy and about two inches wide. The stuffing was breadcrumbs, and a bit of crab. The side salad was good, fresh greens. When I called the waitstaff person over to show her, she asked me if I wanted something else, I said sure. The owner came over removed my plate and left. Nothing. I sat there while my friend ate her salad. She never came back until I had to flag down the waitstaff for the bill. She removed the mush, off the bill, but I thought it was a joke, for an owner not to offer something, comments etc. She needs to go back to customer service school! This place is a joke. Twice was enough. Too much competition in Safety Harbor. Next time we will go someplace else.

I am always surprised at what you discover after you thought you had found it all. In a little "home" just off Main Street in Safety Harbor is one of the neatest dining experiences I have had in a while. Green Springs Bistro feels upscale but grounded in the home that you would picture from the early days of bayfront living. The service is friendly and attentive. The food all looked good and smelled great. Here's the important part: It tasted even better! Be sure to try the flatbread as an appetizer and check out the list of great local brews... very refreshing. They also have an impressive wine list. Prices were comparable and portions were just right. My herb encrusted chicken was tender and juicy and the garlic potatoes were creamy and savory. I highly recommended this place and will be back again! Give it a try... you won't be sorry!

Fantastic, charming, quaint family run place - great to duck into during a festival off downtown main street in safety harbor, IF you can get a table and planned ahead. Charming service, wonderful chicken in chardonnay sauce! This is a must go to when in the area!

I organized two different groups in one evening (party of 3 and a party of 8), and between all of us, we probably got a sampling of the entire menu and a well-rounded view of the service. SERVICE Happy with it! No rudeness as indicated by past reviewers. Our server was a delight, a woman who seemed to be a manager walked through often, adjusting lighting, etc. And the chef even came out to say hello. If I were to micro-pick, I'd just request that any time a server passes a table that they look in the direction of the table so we don't need to flag them down each time. FOOD Smoked Fish Spread: Add a little hot sauce, and you're in business. Recommended. Gumbo: Not bad, but lacked classic flavors. The chicken tasted like it was separately roasted or broiled and added in later. Independently, that element was good, but it clearly overshadowed the traditional gumbo flavors we were looking for. Starter Salads: These were sad. There wasn't much to them at all, and I saw everyone moving their forks around the plate as if something desirable would somehow surface. That said, the dressing was delish -- wish there was more of it. Filet: For this being more of a Gulf seafood restaurant, this meat entree was a big hit. Recommended. Stuffed mahi-mahi: The fish itself was a bit lackluster and would have never been able to stand alone. The stuffing of blue crab and lobster was terrific and absolutely made up for its vessel. Wild Mushroom Ravioli: Delicious! Recommended. Pecan-Crusted Chicken Breast: Safe option for the rogue diner who doesn't like seafood. It was good. Recommended. Sausage, Shrimp and Grits: Mixed reviews on this one. The shrimp were TERRIFIC. Phenomenal even. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'd love to see a whole separate shrimp-focused dish on the menu. Grits had lovely flavor, but the texture was off. They were a bit clumpy, unfortunately, which did not make them "the best" we've ever had, as promised on the menu. Sausage was fine -- wish it was spicier. Black & Blue Cobbler (dessert): The absolute best thing anyone ate that night. Fantastically delightful, and should be more heavily promoted. Served warm. The berries were incredibly fresh. I want another. Chocolate Cake: HUGE slice, very rich and dense! Ask for a few forks. Also, this was mentioned by our server as an afterthought (not sure why), but apparently, there is a smaller glass of red wine (wish I could remember the varietal ... Pinot Noir?) that they traditionally offer with the chocolate cake. We only learned of it because the person who ordered wanted wine but not a full glass. This smaller glass isn't a dessert wine and isn't on the menu. You'll need to ask for it if it's not automatically offered. DECOR I completely agree that the quaint bungalow smack in the middle of a residential neighborhood is a delight to see. It's almost like you've "discovered" something really special and can't wait to run back and tell friends. Then you enter. And what follows is most of the justifcation for the 3-star rating. The spaced-out tables, plain table and chair choice, and uncovered hardwood flooring don't exude a ton of warmth, and the lighting is a bit bright inside (with some mostly exposed bulbs shining down at uncomfortable angles to diners). I'm sure the intentions were good a decade ago, but this place is embarrassingly kitschy. It's like the decorator couldn't help themself and kept going and going ... and going. It doesn't add the Florida charm it was probably aiming for -- it just devalues the cuisine. We are there to eat, so the complete distraction of decor concerned me greatly, even causing me to turn to the out-of-towners in my group with an apologetic "but I hear the food is good." Probably the most unforgivable thing about the decor is the dust. There were odd cartoonish stuffed fish hanging from the rafters or lighting in the back room, and they were COATED with old layers of dust. These items hang just above the tables. I fear the other elements we didn't bother to explore. Most of the group got the general sense that the place shouldn't score high in the "clean" category. I disagree with a previous reviewer who suggested not to take kids here. With the wild aquatic wall murals, cartoonish hanging fish and brightly lit rooms, the place immediately screams "families." It's not until you get to the menu that you have a sense that there really is a caring and talented chef back there at all. All in all, if you're a die-hard foodie, love Safety Harbor and want to support its much-needed restaurant revival, and can ignore things like dust and decor, then visit Green Springs Bistro. I can't blame the latter on the chef. P.S. Across the country, there is a restaurant that executes a similar concept well: smack-dab in the middle of a residential street, within blocks of the water, small bungalow-like place, etc. It's Fandango Restaurant in Pacific Grove, CA. It proves that seaside can still be unconfused and upscale.

Green Springs Bistro really has it going on. It's truly a hidden gem in the land of chain restaurants, AKA Pinellas County. It's located in a super cute old house in the heart of downtown Safety Harbor, about a block away from Main Street. I visited with my parents and a group of their besties on a recent Friday evening and was seriously impressed. By checking in to Yelp I received a free choice of sangria or house wine. I went with the white sangria, adorned with a fresh orange. Also, we received complimentary carrot based soups, served in a tea cups (at first we weren't sure if we should drink them or use a spoon -- drank them) which were a nice surprise and perfectly flavored. They specialize in "Gulf coast cooking" and everything we tried was delicious. Not a single complaint from anyone in our party, including a couple seriously picky eaters. For my main course, I chose the Sesame Crusted Mahi-Mahi. It was drizzled with soy sauce and siracha and served with jasmine rice and roasted veggies. The spiciness of the siracha and saltiness of the soy were a nice touch. I ate every last bite. I also tried a couple bites of Harold's Shroom (roasted portobello mushroom caps with basil, olives and goat cheese). Wow! Best mushrooms I've ever tried. By the way, the bowl of Gumbo is HUGE!!! Almost forgot to mention the live music. It was pleasant but did make it a little difficult to hear those sitting across our large table of 6. Next time I'm back in town visiting my parents, I'll definitely ask them to take me to Green Springs again (after all, they're constantly trying to spoil/fatten me up when I come to town) and will definitely be recommending it to my dear friends in the area as well!! 5 stars for Pinellas County!

Green Springs is a nicely styled restaurant, built inside an old Florida home. Lots of hard surfaces; noise levels are reasonable, but can get a bit loud. The menu is fairly limited, but what they make is good. I'd be sure to look at their menu before going! Service is always polite, but I have on a few occasions felt rather unattended. You will not get out of there quickly, even when they are not busy. They have a good wine selection, all available by the glass. Wine prices are not cheap; most reds are in the $9 to $11 range, which results in this being a pretty expensive dinner; expect $80-$100 for a couple if you have a couple of glasses of wine. They are very busy on weekends, so reservations ore definitely needed.

The place is nice, cozy and romantic. It had live music and warm fire place. Food was all delicious but portions were a bit too small. Definitely worth trying it : )

I really like the atmosphere here and the fact that it's located in a little yellow house off of Main St in Palm Harbor. But I think it's a little pretty pricey for what it is. We spent $140 (before tip) for 4 people. (No appetizers. One dessert.) The shrimp and grits were very good. The mushroom ravioli was nice too. The servers were friendly and the chef came out to say hello and thank you for coming in, which was really nice. That said, we were the ONLY four people in the place the entire time we were there, on a Thursday night. I found that odd. It could be the price points driving people away? Not sure.

It's not easy to give a place 5 stars, but Green Springs deserves every one. This place's ambiance is perfect for Safety Harbor - very artsy and eclectic. It's definitely our favorite places to dine in Safety Harbor. The hostess and servers are wonderful. They are attentive without bugging you every five minutes. Excellent selection of Florida-y meals on the menu. Every time we've been, the chef has sent out complimentary food items ... like a bowl of carrot and ginger soup ... which was delicious, by the way! Their shrimp and grits dinner plate is wonderful. If you go in the evening, there is a musician there who is EXCELLENT ... he reminds me a lot of James Taylor. I love Green Springs Bistro and can't wait to eat there again! :)

Fantastic pretty much sums it up! It's a charming little house I never would have expected to be a high class dinning establishment. It's located in a small town that has a high class spa/resort near by, but I would by far recommend this place over the spa. It's quaint inside with a beautiful full service bar. It has a homey feeling with a touch of elegance The entire staff from the hostess/waiter to the chef (Justin) was very accommodating and VERY friendly. The sangria was delicious, one of the best I've tasted and I've tasted many. I was even lucky enough to try a little home made moonshine (off the menu of course) by the owner, Chef Paul. They had a surprising diverse array of items on the menu from duck to alligator pot pie. I've eaten there for both lunch and dinner and can't wait to go back next time I'm in town!

My first visit here would of got probably 4 or better stars if I had thought f leaving a review at that time. This, my second visit would have gotten only 1 star so I averaged it to 3 stars. The first time I dined here I had the Bison burger which was very good although a bit small. This visit I was more adventurous and tried the Gumbo. I had heard good things about this from family members. I opted for the Bowl and asked for a side salad to go with it, remembering how small the Bison burger had been I figured I would need it. Well they brought me a very good size salad which was pretty good. Then I was served the Gumbo. Things went downhill from there. I don't know if what I received was their typical batch of Gumbo but I was far from impressed. In fact I was a little disgusted with how it tasted and with the many chunks of what I hope was Chicken grizzle. Its hard to describe what the gumbo tasted like but it seemed gritty like there was something of a sawdust like substance in it. I only ate a few bites and gave up. I normally don't complain even when the food is not to my liking and wasn't planning on doing so now. But then I got the bill and found they charged $9.50 for my "side salad". When I brought it to my waitress' attention she only said you didnt say anything when I brought you the full salad so theres nothing I can do. And just walked off. So I ended up paying $19.25 for lousy soup and salad. I would have forgiven the Gumbo but I sure am not going to overlook the poor way the waitress handled HER mistake. From now on when in town I'll eat at the Spa, Southern Fresh or any of the other fine restaurants in the area. Oh and I almost forgot on my first visit we arrived WITHOUT reservations and they were expecting a large group but out of the goodness of their hearts they would serve us. The place was maybe at 10% occupancy when we arrived and maybe at 50% when we left but they pretty much made us feel rushed the whole time we were there.

Good tasting food with a little twist on everything. Always looking for places that try to present their food a little different than everyone else. Been there for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. Service was good and the portion sizes were just right. Do agree with earlier reviewer that the back porch can get loud but the front of the house is quieter.

This quaint little place is easy to miss, in fact I did miss it. I drove right by it because it is in a house. The menu nicely varied with selections ranging from duck breast to mushroom ravioli and sausage shrimp and grits. I ordered the mahi mahi stuffed with crab and lobster, citrus beurre blanc, smashed red potatoes and roasted vegetables. I also had Chilean Chardonnay for $7. A small salad of field greens, sliced roma tomatoes and some julienned carrot and red onion served with a honey poppyseed vinaigrette. The service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. Initially I was served an amuse bouche of a black bean soup served in an espresso cup. It was really tasty. The salad was really good too. The fish had a panko crust on it. The sear was nicely done and the stuffing was more crab than lobster and very flavorful. The fish was not perfectly cooked but pretty good, just a little on the overcooked side. The potatoes were not gummy at all. The roasted veg were good as was the sauce. And the entrée was served on a hot plate! Hallelujah! The first glass of wine was a little flat. I was thinking about asking for a fresh bottle but I decided not to put my snooty hat on and just drink it. The second glass was a new bottle and much better. It was $48 with an entrée, two glasses of wine, tax and tip. I will definitely go back.

Our agency had short notice to host a special event for 25 people this week. Kris and Chef Paul responded to my request quickly with costs and menu options that made our dinner amazing. Everyone loved the food, of course, but their extra hospitality is what makes Green Springs so special.

I ate here when I visited the Safety Harbor spa last year. I went for lunch, and it was so much better than anything you would get at the fancy-shmancy spa down the street! It's a home converted into a restaurant that makes you feel like you're visiting a good friends home, complete with a resident cat! The menu offerings are surprisingly varied for such a small place, and are what I like to call 'casual gourmet'. (I miss you Pebbles!) When I go back to safety harbor, I don't miss stopping in Green Springs!

We have been traveling for a week and a half and this was the first dinner that rates 5 stars for us. A really cute restaurant in an old home. My wife had the special - bacon wrapped salmon in a bacon balsamic reduction infused with coffee. A really interesting and delicious dish. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies that were not very hot; however the server replaced it immediately. I had a buffalo steak. Not quite as fancy, but really good. We had a blackberry/blueberry cobbler (with average ice cream) that was excellent. Good live guitar music in the background; good table spacing; great service. All in all, a really good value

This wonderful family owned bistro is not to miss. What a great combo, Chef Paul and Kris combine to put the most incredible and creative dishes in front of you. He is master chef, she is an incredible baker ( or baketress). Together, they do it all! Visited in June and craving to go back. Whatever you do don't miss the cheese appetizer (Saganaki) and for goodness sake, split the deserts. greenspringsbistro.com

I went to Green Springs Bistro yesterday and loved the homey feel and the delicious food. Had the gumbo, which had a lot of flavor, but could be a bit spicier (although they did bring with it some tabasco). For my entree, I had the Spinach Enchilada, which was topped with chopped tomatoes and sour cream. The presentation was nice and the service was excellent! There are probably a couple things I would've liked to see. I would've preferred to have a choice of sides instead of the side salad with balsamic vinaigrette that came with my spinach enchilada. We ordered the blueberry cobbler and the brownie topped with coconut (both desserts had a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top). The prices were for the most part within the range (though on the higher side) of what I was expecting to pay.

Great place for date night! My husband and I were in search of a quaint restaurant for our night out together, and happened to stumble upon this hidden little gem! Green Springs Bistro is an organic real-food bistro for serious foodies. Nestled in the bayside town of Safety Harbor, this medium-sized gem has 2 working fireplaces in a central chimney for cold nights. Reservations are a must. Staff is cordial, knowledgable & eager to please gluten- & dairy-free troublemakers like me, except for absence of a dessert. Food is superb--house made salad dressings, beautiful winter lettuce salad, fab entrees. We had a grass-fed filet mignon with gorgonzola & a sesame-encrusted mahi-mahi. Sides included grilled seasonal veggies, jasmine rice & buttermilk mashed potatoes, all perfectly prepared. GSB is now my fave in coastal Tampa Bay area.

Cute little boutique restaurant. It is located just off the main street in a little house. Our waiter was really nice and even brought us a little taste of their soup from the kitchen. The whole place was comfortable and charming with good food. I would recommend it and go back.

Highly recommended- This place greatly exceeded all expectations! Cute and cozy little bistro with charming Florida decor. The staff was very friendly and we were seated promptly upon arriving at our reservation time. My husband and I ate dinner here one Saturday night during a weekend getaway to Safety Harbor. It was recommended to us by the resort where we stayed (but that's a whole different review). Where do I even start? We started with a half pitcher of an awesome White Sangria, gorgeous green salad, and tasty little cup of soup that came on the house. For dinner we had the swordfish special with white wine sauce and the blue crab and lobster stuffed Mahi Mahi. Both were perfectly cooked and delicous. Even the roasted vegetables on the side were divine- seasoned just right and cooked tender-crisp (I do love a crisp veggie- no mushy carrots here!!). The entrees were so good we nearly licked our plates clean! Then....black and blue cobbler- O-M-G! I can't say enough about this place- excellent food and great service!

Ok I know some people will be angry that I rated the Bistro 3 stars. The Wait staff was really great and the wine list was also well balanced. For the most part everything was great untill the food came out. We ordered the Filet and the Duck. The Filet had big chuncks of fat in it making it about half meat and half fat. The Duck was cooked well and tasted good but the Blackberry sauce made it very hard to eat. The seeds in the sauce were not strained out so every bite tasted great but was interupted with a grit feeling. I am thinking they just drop the ball this time. I am sure I will try again but for now my rating stands.

The restaurant is located in a converted cottage, and the atmosphere is charming. The artwork was painted by locals (and all of it is for sale), and the unintrusive recorded music they play is performed by people who live in the area. Don't let the casual decor mislead you, though - the food here is upscale, with prices to match. Chef Paul Kapsalis focuses on regional cuisine and adds some of his Mediterranean heritage to the mix. One of the best appetizers is saganaki, which is Kefalograviera cheese oven-roasted in olive oil and lemon juice. It's served in a sizzling cast iron skillet with artisan bread and there's more than enough for two to share. The blue crab cakes served with sautéed spinach also make a good start. Dorado stuffed with crabmeat and rock shrimp in a citrus-flavored white wine sauce is served with buttermilk mashed red potatoes. Seared Key West shrimp and sea scallops served on a bed of pesto risotto is another good choice. Dinner entrees include salad and a side of roast vegetables. Desserts are baked on the premises by co-owner Kris Kubik. They change on a regular basis, but her Black 'n Blue Cobbler, filled with juicy berries, is a staple and available every day. The lunch men includes soup, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, beneli (Greek pizza), chicken or spinach quesadillas, spinach enchiladas, and roasted portobellos with red peppers, kalamata olives and garlic goat cheese. The restaurant features live entertainment at lunch and on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Dinner for two, from soup to nuts, will run about $80. Reservations are recommended, especially on the weekends.

We had a big group in here and it was great. Quaint location is very endearing, the staff was attentive, and the food was great. It was a wedding rehearsal dinner so I didn't pay and don't know how much it cost, but the food tasted great. I had the mushroom ravioli and my biggest problem with it was I only got 4 ravioli and I left hungry. The salad was surprisingly good for being very simple and they're coffee as also excellent.
